When we first sat down to put together our standard finishes catalogue all those years ago, we asked ourselves: What would we want to choose from for our own finishes? We tried to put ourselves in our clients’ shoes. All of our standard finishes have been carefully selected because of their quality and because we like to support American companies and family owned companies as much as possible.
WOOD FLOORS
At Porteus & Son Builders, we pride ourselves on using as many American-made products in our homes as possible. Our floors are no exception. Our standard wood flooring, made from oak, is two and a quarter inches wide and comes in six different stains. We offer three-and-a-quarter-inch wood floors as an upgrade. Wood flooring is standard for the common areas of each of our homes: living room, dining room, kitchen, and hallways. We offer the option of wood flooring throughout our homes as an upgrade.
CARPET
Fresh, clean carpeting in a brand-new home is such a fantastic experience. Our carpet selections, like our wood floors, are made in America. We offer a standard selection of 39 different shades of carpet. They are durable, stain-resistant, great for furry family members, and easy to clean. Wall-to-wall carpeting comes standard in all bedrooms of our homes.
TILE
We carefully chose a line of tile in a rustic, neutral stone look to complement any color palette. The tile in this collection is an eight on the MOH’s Scale of Hardness, only two levels beneath diamonds, making them durable and able to weather years of foot traffic. This line is made from recycled materials and is proudly made in the USA.
APPLIANCES
Through our partnership with GE, we get fantastic deals on all their appliances for our clients. We again placed ourselves in our client’s shoes and asked what we would want to see as the standard appliance selections for our new home, and this is the line-up we came up with*.

CABINETS
Porteus & Son Builders took quite a bit of time choosing the cabinet line we would use in our standard kitchens. We wanted the cabinets to be quality made, and also to be attractive.
Our cabinets for our standard homes come in a choice of seven shades that will work beautifully with any color palette. Some of the standard features include:

GRANITE COUNTERTOPS
Our standard granite countertops are sourced from some of the best quarries in the world, and come in fantastic shades of gold, red, and green.
Bathroom Fixtures
We carefully considered which bathroom fixtures we wanted to have as our standard selections for our homeowners. We wanted our fixtures to be reliable, easy to maintain, and able to fit with any color palette and design. These are the standard fixtures we chose for our bathrooms.
